On the Back Burner
After five or so failed Hinge and Bumble dates, I was hesitant when my first date with a guy from an app had me wanting more. When this feeling didn't end after the second date, then the third date, I was hooked. After 3 months of weekly dates, cute texts, sleepovers, and hanging out with my roommates, I was pretty optimistic of the near future with him. And when he begged to come over after we both were out on New Years Eve because he wanted to spend the night together, I was only reassured. Clearly it was too good to be true, right?
Right. I was out of the country for a week and while I was away I didn't expect to talk to him much, but I felt the silence more than I was expecting. When I got back home, I texted him to see when he'd want to hang, and was met with only more silence.
Aside from the confusion, I immediately wondered what I did wrong and what was wrong with me. This thought couldn't escape my mind, so after a week or two of complete silence I had to reach out to him. Mistake #500. I was told, "life got busy so I put you on the back burner and left you there."
Needless to say, he deleted me on all social media and that was the last I ever heard from him.
While I took a long hiatus from the apps, I was lucky enough to find a keeper a year later who keeps me on the front burner ;) A true ghosting experience can really knock you down, but this has now become my "OMG let me tell you a crazy story" and I'm able to laugh about it and only wonder what that guy is up to now...
